Easter Tree – Unique Way to Celebrate this Easter
Marking Easter Holidays with Easter Tree
We all know that for Christmas, a Christmas tree is decorated and it is exhibited in our family homes. However, only a few people know that for Easter, some Christian families decorate an Easter tree and exhibit it in their homes during Easter. The tradition of decorating trees during the time of Easter originates from Germany. The tradition of German Catholic families of decorating trees during the time of Easter is called Osteierbaum, which literally translates as Easter tree or Easter egg tree.
History of Osteierbaum
The German tradition of decorating various trees outside family homes or inside family homes during Easter is centuries old, but no one knows the origins of that tradition. The custom of decorating trees during Easter is mostly practiced in Germany and Austria. However, we can say that this custom is also present in various German-influenced places such as Hungary, Moravia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Poland. One notable example of an Easter tree was Saalfelder Ostereierbaum. This was an apple tree in Saalfeld, Germany that was found in the garden of family Kraft. The Kraft family had their apple tree decorated every Easter with numerous Easter eggs. This German family started decorating their Easter tree in 1965. The Easter tree of the Kraft family quickly became famous in Germany and worldwide. Sadly, as of 2015, the Kraft family doesnt decorate anymore their apple tree with Easter eggs on Easter.
How can you make your Easter Tree?
If you want to celebrate this Easter in unique way, you are highly recommended to exhibit an Easter tree in your house. You can take one bigger branch of a tree, paint it and hang on it hand-painted Easter eggs and other decorations. You can even adorn your Christmas tree with eggs and other suitable decorations for Easter and thus make it your Easter tree.
