Easter Bunny – Easter is not Easter without Easter Bunnies
Easter Bunny and its Origins
As we have said in the title of this article, no one could imagine Easter holiday without Easter bunny. Easter bunnies have now become one of the most important Easter customs. They can either be edible, plush, or even real bunnies that people surround with Easter eggs. One interesting thing regarding Easter bunnies is that they are mentioned nowhere in the Bible. The Holy Bible doesnt make any reference of a long-eared, short-tailed bunny that delivers decorated Easter eggs to kids who behaved well during the past year on Easter Sunday. Nevertheless, Easter bunny has become one of the most important symbols of Christianitys second most important holiday after Christmas. The exact origins of Easter bunny as a symbol of Easter are unclear. However, bunnies have always been associated with procreation, new life, and fertility, and it is no wonder why they have become an important Easter custom.
Easter Bunny Tradition in America
According to several sources, the Easter bunny tradition came to America in the 1700s together with the German immigrants who have settled in Pennsylvania and who have transported their Easter tradition of an egg-laying bunny called Osterhase. The children of German immigrants made nests in which Osterhase could lay its colored eggs. Eventually, this tradition has spread all over the United States and has become an important Easter tradition. Today, American families that celebrate Easter decorate their homes with baskets in which chocolate Easter bunny is present and surrounded with colored Easter eggs.
